** Shares of Jack Daniel's maker Brown-Forman BFb.N down 5.7% at $26.15

** Co and French spirits maker Pernod Ricard PERP.PA ended merger talks

** Both firms failed to reach mutually acceptable terms

** The decision reflected a "combination of elements" relating to debt structure and economics, a Pernod spokesperson told Reuters

** BFb, which had also drawn a rival proposal from spirits group Sazerac, said it will now focus on its own "strategic and operational priorities"

** As of last close, BFb stock rose ~18% since the deal talk was first reported on March 26; stock up 6.4% YTD
